Welcome to Hisaab ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and store information, specifically focusing on your Contact List information, in compliance with Google Play Store requirements.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Contact List Information

With your explicit permission, we collect the following information from your device's address book (Contact List):

  • Phone Numbers
  • Names (Display Names)
  • Email Addresses (if available)

2.2 Other Information

  • Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, phone number, and email.
  • Transaction Data: Expenses, group details, and settlement information you create within the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your Contact List information solely for the following purpose:

  • Friend Matching & Social Graph: To check if any of your contacts are already using Hisaab. This allows you to easily add friends to groups and split expenses with them without manually entering their details.
  • Contact Display: To display the names of your friends in the app exactly as they appear in your phone's address book, making it easier for you to recognize them.

We DO NOT sell, rent, or trade your contact information to third parties.

4. How We Store and Share Information

  • Storage: Your contact information is securely uploaded to our encrypted servers (Supabase) to perform the matching process described above. It is stored in a private database table (contacts) accessible only by you (the owner) and our system for matching purposes.
  • Sharing: We do not share your contact list with any external third parties, advertisers, or partners.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your contact information as long as your account is active to maintain your social connections within the app.

Requesting Deletion:

You can request the deletion of your data at any time.

Upon deletion, all your synced contact data will be permanently removed from our servers.
